The Musicians Union of Liberia (MULIB) has announced that artists who wielded their influence in the fight against the Ebola Virus through their songs will be honored on Thursday, September 17, 2015.

The honoring program will begin at 2:00pm at the Monrovia YMCA on Crown Hill, Broad Street.

President of the MULIB Cecil Griffiths said in a statement that honor would be bestowed on the basis of merit and not friendship.

"One of set criteria we had in place was that artists' anti-Ebola songs must have played on air during the Ebola crisis for a specific length of time," He said.

Expressing excitement for the program, Cecil Griffiths said, "Several artists composed songs about the Ebola virus which was used to enlighten and educate members of the public on how to protect themselves, their families and communities against the disease."

He noted that the musicians' union is hosting this honoring program to appreciate its members for that crucial contribution.

He urged all artists that will be honored at the program arrive at the venue thirty minutes before the kickoff time.

Some of the honorees include: Emma G. Smith; Bernice Blackie; Quincy B and Tan Tan; Amb. Julie Endee and Crusaders for Peace; Soul Fresh, DenG and F. A; Liberia Artists together for Advancement (LATA); Liberian Association of Gospel Musical Artists (LAGMA); Martha Fahnbulleh; Sayon Mason; David Mell; Amb. George M. Weah; Paul Beah; Morris Dukuly; and Sweet Sound Production
