Controversy is now trailing the alleged arrest and jail of Nigerian pilgrim officials in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for trespass.
According to reports, the coordinator of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) in Mecca, Suleiman Usman, disclosed that some “Nigerian pilgrimage officials” were arrested and taken to prison by the Saudi authorities for trespass.
Usman made the disclosure while paying a condolence visit to three Nigerian states that lost six pilgrims in the Mecca crane accident.
But when contacted on phone, spokesman of NAHCON, Mallam Uba Mana, told CEOAfrica source that the allegation was speculative, saying that the commission is not aware of the said arrest of its officials.
