Operation Pulo Shield gets new Commander

Major General Alani Okunlola has been appointed as the new commander of the Operation Pulo Shield Headquarters, CEOAfrica can reliably report.

Gen Okunlola was the immediate past Acting Chief of Training and Operations at the Department of Army Training and Operations (DATOPS), Army Headquarters, Abuja.

He was reported to have taken over from Major General Emmanuel Atewe, who was redeployed to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

 In his maiden address to officers and men during the handing and taking over ceremony, held at the permanent site, headquarters of the Operation Pulo Shield, situated at Igbogene in Yenegoa, Gen okunlola enjoined the team to see their posting to the Operation area as a call to duty and service, urging them to be selfless in the discharge of the mandate of the Operation in the area.

He also reminded them of the need to operate within the confine of the law, reminding them that the military is subject to both Military and Civil law.

The Commander explained that the fight against oil theft was critical to the nation’s economy and pledged to approach his duty with dedication and commitment.

Gen Okunlola further urged the various stakeholders, which include oil producing communities, multinational oil companies to support the anti-corruption campaign of the Federal Government, by supporting the fight against illegal oil bunkering, oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other sundry crimes in the region.

 Gen Okunlola is a member of 34 Regular Course of the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). He has served in various capacities of staff and command across units of the Nigerian Army both within and outside the country.
