The Delta State Police Command has arrested 156 members of the outlawed indigenous people of the defunct Biafra.

It was revealed in a press release made available by the Delta State PPRO, DSP Celestina Kalu to CEOAfrica that the operation, which was carried out in the afternoon was based on a tip-off of the group's proposed meeting at Oneh Primary school, Asaba.

Immediately after the arrest, a team of detectives in the state conducted a screening exercise. About 11 of the leaders are still undergoing further investigation and possible prosecutions while the rest, including women and children were warned and released.

Items recovered from the suspects included Biafra freedom song CD plate,  group photograph showing members of the group United Nation's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, document containing Biafra National Anthem, documents containing world latest vote on Biafra, one Sony camera and a book titled Agueleri: The pivot of the Bani-Israil in Nigeria.

DSP Celestina Kalu in the statement reiterated the Command's commitment toward providing a peaceful atmosphere for the enhancement of democracy and therefore advised the general public to desist from fraternising with such outlawed groups in order to avoid the wrath of the police.
