County Commissioner of Nyeri; Michael ole Tilal has raised alarm over the rising numbers of gay and lesbian prostitutes in the country.

Mr Tilal, while speaking, said the trend had been on the rise in recent weeks in areas around Majengo slums and along Kimathi Street in Nyeri town centre.

According to the commissioner, gay and lesbian sex workers have been targeting popular joints and taxi operators in the town.

Mr Tilal said the behaviour was against their values and they would work around the clock to restore them.

Police boss Charles Rotich said a crackdown had led to the arrest of 12 suspects in Majengo slums.
