The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Legend Interior Limited, Mr John Ifejiofor has called for community policing in Delta State and Nigeria as a whole, to allow involvement of the public in securing the country.

He stated this during an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica securing Africa crew in Delta State during the weekend, while speaking on security intervention in the state.

Ifejiofor enthused that community policing would reinforce security consciousness of the general public.

In his words: “If community policing is further encouraged, it will allow everyone to be conscious of him or herself, knowing well that someone, somewhere in the community is watching whatever the person is doing.”

He expressed happiness over the state and the measure Commissioner of Police, Alkali Baba Usman is putting in place to curb crime, saying, “Some years back, I wanted to relocate to Lagos state, because the rate of kidnapping and murder in Delta gave me so much fear and restlessness.

“That was a thing of the past, because security now has taken a drastic turnaround immediately the present Commissioner of Police came on board.”

He added that the state can proudly boast of a conducive living and working environment. According to him, the reason for the sudden development is not far-fetched, which he regarded as a peaceful nature of the state.

Ifejiofor however, urged the police force to continue its effort towards securing the state, adding that the indigenes should regardless of tribe and religion, corporate with the force in securing the society.

He also praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arese for “bringing such an efficient and good Commissioner of Police to the state.”
