The Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola has finally broken silence on the death of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who died recently, in a London hospital.

Aregbesola voiced out about the monarch's death during the 50th birthday celebration of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Najeem Salam.

While speaking at the event, Aregbesola referenced the late monarch and promised to disclose  his last words with the deceased at the appropriate time.

"The last short text message I received from the late Oba Sijuwade was touching and inspirational.

"I promise to share the content of the message with the people of Osun State at the appropriate time.

"I have already discussed the content of the message with the Ife Royal Traditional Council, during my meeting with them at Osogbo," he added.

He however prayed for long life for all the traditional rulers present at the event.

In his words for the celebrant, Aregbesola described Najeem as "a major factor in the delivery of good governance in the state."

“The effective leadership we have provided in this state with the massive delivery of people oriented programmes could not have been possible without the appropriate cooperation of the House under the Speaker.

“It is therefore, pertinent to note that the Speaker has been a major factor in the delivery of good governance and this, we are optimistic will continue,” he stated.

Aregbesola also lauded the effort of the Speaker for providing effective leadership for the House of Assembly through passage of various laws and other oversight functions for the smooth and unhindered progress of the state.

He however sued for prayers for the celebrant as he celebrates his golden jubilee anniversary.
