Ondo State Governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko yesterday swore in 16 caretaker chairmen out of the 18 local governments in Ondo State Nigeria of the West African continent.

The chairmen from Akure South and Akoko S/W were retained as the governor said their tenures would be extended. Mimiko said this at the swearing in held in Akure the Ondo State capital that their appointments became necessary following the recent dissolution of the former caretaker committees.

He however charged the new caretaker chairmen to discharge their duties effectively in line with their oaths of office. Mimiko, who promised an inclusive government, said local government elections would be held before the end of the year. He advised the new chairmen to ensure the completion of all ongoing projects in their respective areas.

While speaking on behalf of the chairmen, Mr Adesanmi Julius of Irele LG said they would justify the confidence reposed in them.
