The 2015 Wimbledon continued in its unpredictability on Thursday as 20th seeded Spaniard, Gabrine Muruguza beat former Wimbledon finalist, Agnieszka Radwanska, in three sets to make it a third win over the 13th seed to make it into a Grand Slam final for the first time and there she will meet the No.1 woman player in the world, Serena Williams.

Williams was too good for Maria Sharapova, who she beat in two straight sets of 6-2 and 6-4. The 33-year-old is now on the brink of bagging her 21st Grand Slam title – as she stands two behind only Steffi Graf, who won 22 Grand Slam titles.

But Williams is not thinking too far forward, as she told Wimbledon.com that Muruguza has beaten her before and will know what to do.

“Garbine [Muruguza] has been around a while. She’s played really big here.

“She’s beaten me before. She knows what to do. That puts her in a unique position where she has an opportunity to be Wimbledon champ.”

Williams continued: “I’ve won so many Slam titles. I could lose on Saturday and I won’t be happy, but I don’t need another Wimbledon.

“I don’t need any titles to make it. I’m not as desperate to win anymore. I’ve won all the Slams multiple times. Now I’m just here to enjoy it,” she added.

But before that woman’s final match on Saturday, there is the little matter of the men’s semifinal matches on Friday.

Richard Gasquet, who knocked out French Open winner; Stanislas Wawrinka in five thrilling sets, will pit his skills against the current No.1, Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic, who almost stumbled against South Africa’s Kevin Anderson up against the very-talented but inconsistent Gasquet. This will a match of contrasting styles and Gasquet’s formidable backhand will be of particular concern to Djokovic and his coach, Boris Becker.

The second semifinal will see homeboy, Andy Murray, against seven-time Wimbledon winner, Roger Federer. The Swiss master is yet to drop a set in this year’s tournament and seems to be getting better but Murray will have enthusiastic home support as he chases a second Wimbledon title.
