The middle aged late cyclist was overrun by a Lagos bound articulated vehicle (trailer) after been hit by a Micra commercial cab whose driver was trying to evade inspection by the VIOs.

"It was while the VIOs stopped the driver of the Micra cab for checking and trying to escape arrest that he hit the Okada man when he unfortunately swerved right underneath the trailer which overran him and killed him on the spot," an eye witness said.

It was further learnt that the VIOs for fear of being lunched, immediately took off from the scene of the accident, giving sympathisers impression that they wanted to pursue the trailer driver who escaped towards Lagos expressway.

The incident drew the ire of other Okada operators who initially prevented vehicular movements at Iwo road junction, later stormed the Ikolaba office of the VIOs.
