The opening fixtures of the Caf Champions League Cup group stages kicked off this past weekend, with Al Hilal of Sudan claiming a vital point away to TP Mazembe

TP Mazembe (DR Congo) 0–0 Al Hilal (Sudan)

Four-time winners TP Mazembe of DR Congo were held to a goalless draw at home in Lubumbashi on Sunday by Sudanese side Al Hilal.

The Corbeaux, who last won the title in 2010, are seen as one of the top favourites in this year’s edition after eliminating Al Ahly and Esperance of Tunis.

Smouha SC (Egypt) 3–2 Moghreb Tetouan (Morocco)

Egyptian representatives, Smouha SC, who are only appearing in the competition for the second time, managed to snatch all three points against visiting Moroccan team Moghreb Tetouan.

Defender Mourtada Fall put the visitors ahead after six minutes, with Ahmed Jahouh doubling the lead after six minutes later.

However, the Egyptians fought back in the second half to pull level and seal a win through a 66 ^th minute strike from Salah Amin and a brace from Ivorian-import Hermann Kouao.

Al Merreikh (Sudan) 2–0 Mouloudia El Eulma (Algeria)

Al Merreikh of Sudan opened their campaign with a 2-0 win over Algerian side Mouloudia El Eulma on Friday.

Namane opened the scoring in the 7 ^th minute, while Al Madina doubled his team's lead in the 56 ^th minute to seal the home side’s comfortable win.

Entente Setif (Algeria) 1–2 USM Alger (Algeria)

Defending champions Entente Setif were stunned 2-1 at home by USM Alger in the all-Algerian affair played at the May 8 1945 Stadium in Setif on Saturday.

Mohamed Seguer and Nacereddine Khoualed claimed the lead for the visitors in the 59 ^th and 72 ^nd minutes respectively, with Ilyes Korbiaa pulled one back for the home side in the 83 ^rd minute.
