SUNDERLAND VARSITY HONOURS UI VC, ADEWOLE

University of Sunderland, United Kingdom has nominated the University of Ibadan (UI) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole as one of the few personalities across the world that will be honoured with the award of Doctorate of Science of the university.

This was stated in a letter signed by its Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive , Shirley Atkinson explained that Prof. Adewole's nomination was on account of his outstanding academic career and commitment to the promotion of medical screening and preventative medicine in Nigeria.

Prof. Adewole, a medical doctor turned university administrator is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynacologist at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan as well as an adjunct Professor at Northwestern University , Chicago , Illinois , USA.

According to the letter, " each year the University of Sunderland confers honorary awards on a small number of distinguished people in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in a particular field. On behalf of the University 's Honourary Awards Committee , I am pleased to invite you to accept the award of Honorary Doctorate of Science"

The award ceremony is sheduled to take place at the Faculty of Applied Science of the University will take place on Wednesday 8 July, 2015.
