DPR seals filling stations in Ilorin

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has shut down two petrol stations in Ilorin, Kwara State, for alleged under-dispensing of the product to motorists.

The DPR Operations Controller in the state, Mr Amos Jokodola, through the acting Deputy Manager, Retails Outlets, Mr Ishola Joshua, announced the closure on Sunday during inspection of filling stations in Ilorin.

The stations are NIPCO located on Ajase-Ipo road and Success and Regards operating on New Yidi road. It was  discovered that they had adjusted their meters downward, thereby cheating motorists.

Jokodola had summoned the management of both stations to appear before the department and give explanation for the alleged sharp practice.

He also warned three other petrol stations in the metropolis to adhere to the rules and regulations of the department or be sanctioned.

Jokodola, while speaking to CEOAfrica said that the DPR would not hesitate to close down any petrol station found cheating motorists in the state. He also warned them against selling petrol above the official price.
