
The peaceful and quiet city of Fugar in Estako central in Edo state was weekend thrown into utter confusion as a police officer mistakely shot a woman dead.
The incident occurred during the burial ceremony of Chief Etu, a retired teacher, who hailed from Iyhiokhile quarters of Fugar city.
One Mr Samson told our reporter that the police officer was among the security that accompained the king of Ogbonna community to the burial ceremony.
Another woman, who only wanted to be identified as Mama Mabel, told our reporter in a phone conversation that the bullet that killed the woman was accidentally discharged by the officer.
She said that the woman came from Warri to attend the burial and her family members had been contacted.
Angry youths descended heavily on the police officer and he was almost beaten to the point of death before help came his way.
