Two gunmen have shot dead the Lagos State pastor of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Church, Mr Chukwuemeka Okpokpo.

Reports gathered show that the two armed robbery suspects who were on a motorcycle (Okada) trailed the pastor from a bank in Amuwo Odofin area in FESTAC to the Apple junction and shot him dead on Monday.
An eyewitness, who craved anonymity, said that the armed robbers stoppedthe pastor who was driving one of the church buses at gunpoint.

When they asked him for the money he collected, he claimed to have had no money on him until one of the robbers entered the car and took the bag of money himself and later shot him in the head.

The pastor, however, was first rushed to the Ijesha branch of the church before he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A police source, who confirmed the incident, said that in the ongoing investigation police would not rule out assassination, as they would not narrow the incidence down to armed-robbery-gone-wrong alone.

When CEOAfrica visited the church, many members were seen wearing long faces, obviously mourning the untimely and sudden death of the pastor.

However, efforts to reach the church's press director for comments proved abortive.
