A daylight robbery reportedly broke out at the Ogolonto area of Ikorodu, a suburb in Lagos, as a notorious gang broke into the First Bank and Zenith Bank branches located beside the Dangote port.

The effrontery of the robbers elicited a swift response from the police who engaged them in a shoot-out. Commuters and passersby were seen scampering for safety as the gunfight gained momentum.

The Nigerian Police Force has, however, pacified nerves through its twitter handle as it reported that officers were responding to the incidence.

Citizens were nonetheless advised to stay out of the vicinity.
