University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor Isaac Adewole has purchased and comissioned two water tankers to service students' halls of residence in order to curb water shortage and ensure cleanliness.

Professor Adewole says this development is an ad-hoc and a standby arrangement to curtail water crisis on the campus.

Speaking at the commissioning which attracted major stakeholders including the hall wardens and student leaders, Prof. Adewole promised that his administration would continue to do everything possible to make life better for the studentry.

He also praised the Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. A.A. Alada, for introducing the initiative that led to the purchase of the tankers, describing him as the originator of the idea "that has now put us a step ahead of the students"

Prof. Adewole said that with the purchase of two new tankers "the issue of water scarcity on campus will be quickly addressed, thereby averting unnecesary tension."

He said since Urbah Dam was dredged during his administration, the universiy had stopped buying water from Eleiyele Dam because the former provides more than enough raw water for theĀ  university community to process.

Mr Saanu, a lecturer and member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, was among the various speakers on the occasion and he praised Prof. Adewole for his creativity in management. He described him as a rare leader with uncommon passion for humanity.
