As 18 states are reportedly battling to pay salaries of workers nationwide, local government staff members in Kwara State are being owed four months salaries.

The situation has nearly paralysed all the 16 local government areas as workers are increasingly finding it difficult to get to work.
“I am deep in debt. I have borrowed so much money from friends and relatives to the extent that I am ashamed to approach any one of them again. They have their own responsibilities, too,” said a worker who craved anonymity for fear of being victimised.
CEOAfrica has gathered that workers in state ministries including teachers under the state’s teaching service commission who usually receive their salaries on the 25th of every month, are yet to get their May salaries .
It does not end there, the teachers under the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) are also being owed two months salaries.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday with debtor state governors to discuss the issue of non-payment of workers’ salaries.
