Eleven kids, aged between 11 and 14 years, have been arrested for breaking into a home in Challenge, Ibadan and stole the sum of N11, 000.

The Oyo State Anti-Robbery Squad, working on a tip from an informant, was shocked when it arrived at the robbery scene and saw that the culprits were kids.

Commissioner of Police Mohammed Katsina had observed that some of the kids were from Republic of Benin.

The teenagers who were arrested on June 15 are to be taken to the rehabilitation centre, the commissioner said.

“Based on information, the Anti-Robbery Squad of the command was sent out immediately and they were surprised to see kids of 12 and 14 years of age coming out to make confessional statements,” Mr Katsina said, adding that the decadence was partly due to lack of parental care.

He, however, spoke with Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi who had promised to assist in the rehabilitation and welfare of the minors.

CeoAfrica spoke with some people in the neighbourhood who all agreed that it was disheartening to see the younger generation “ who are supposed to be the future leaders of tomorrow becomes the criminals of today.”
