The police will henceforth provide adequate security for medical and dental practitioners against any form of threat or intimidation in the course of performing their legal duties.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, gave this assurance to the Nigeria Medical Association, during a courtesy visit to the Office of the IGP, led by its president Dr. Kayode Obembe.
“Security arrangement will equally be put in place to ensure the safety of medical staff in hospital ambulances and on emergency services. Also, there would be commensurate remuneration for police doctors,'' the police boss said.
Sir Kayode had earlier made the request following numerous security challenges confronting his members. He expressed his confidence in the IGP leadership.
