The Nigeria Customs Service says it neither sells cars nor offers recruitment on social media platform and warns that the public and social media users should be wary of the activities of fraudsters.  

This message (in a special video) has been passed on to those who might be prospective victims of these fraudsters, according to Customs Public Relations Officer Wale Adeniyi. 

''The public has to know that these people are criminals and fraudsters. Why do they ask people to send money into their private accounts? Why do they ask interested buyer to meet with them personally? The truth is just that we are not car dealers and we have different means by which people can reach us to get information about our activities," Mr Adeniyi said.

 "Let me also make it known that if you have been (dealing with names) representing us such as Nigeria Customs Authority; Nigeria Customs Immigration Service; Nigeria Customs and Excise; Nigeria Authority and Customs, then you can be assured of dealing with fraudsters. They sometimes use dangerous names, too. No matter what name they bear, they are fake."

While advising members of the public not to give money to anyone representing the agency, he stressed that there are accounts where people can reach the agency to get more credible, authoritative information.
