Solomon Arase, IGP
The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has placed an embargo on all forms of leave, either casual or annual, for officers and men in six police commands, including Cross-River, Rivers, Ebonyi and Akwa-Ibom states.
The police boss said all hands must be on deck at stemming the tide of kidnapping and issued a stern warning to police officers in the Zone Six Police Command.
This was contained in the press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel C.S Ojukwu, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Tuesday.
The statement further read that the Police High Command had equally reaffirmed its commitment at leaving no stone unturned to ensure that peace would prevail and people go about their lawful businesses in all parts of the country.
"I am miffed that despite several directives on anti-crime activities, there are still reports of increasing trend of kidnapping and violent crimes in all of these ... commands."
Meanwhile, members of the public have been further enjoined to continue to collaborate with the police by reporting any suspicious person or criminal element at the nearest police station for prompt action.
