Keshi...confident.
Stephen Keshi, Head Coach of the Super Eagles, on Wednesday said he was confident that his team would win Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Kaduna.
Keshi, while addressing the media in Kaduna, said he was satisfied with the calibre of players he has in camp and who would feature in the match against Chad.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigeria/Chad match, both sides’ opening match in the qualifiers, is scheduled for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS).``I look up to the players, come Saturday, for a better performance and I am hopeful it will help take us far as we look ahead of 2017 AFCON.
"I am already working on them for us to play the match and record success, so that we can proceed to the next stage.
"But I believe we will do better and there will be no changes in the team on Saturday from the one in the Tuesday friendly.
"Except there are players with injuries and who are not fit enough, then there may be changes,’’ Keshi said.
He further said he was also motivated to do well by the players.
I hope to work on my weaknesses and move forward with the team, because Nigerians deserve victory.’’
While acknowledging the efforts of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in motivating the team to win their matches, Keshi however decried the state of the training pitch in Kaduna.
"The pitch is manageable but if it can be much better than this it will be easier to play and get the desired result.’’
He urged Nigerians to support the Super Eagles in their bid to qualify for the 2017 AFCON finals.
The coach also urged the players to work hard and maintain their fitness and performance levels so as to win the upcoming matches with good goals.
"The technical crew is equally working hard to ensure there is stability in the team, as this will enhance players' performance,’’ he said.
