Ogbeni Aregbesola, Osun State Governor
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on churches in Osun State to donate foodstuff and other relief materials to Osun State civil servants.
The call was made to alleviate the sufferings of the workers who presently are being owed seven months salaries by the state government, Punch reports.
The chairman of CAN in Osun State, Revd Elisha Ogundiya, said in Osogbo on Wednesday that churches should go beyond feeding their congregations with spiritual food, especially at this time. They should also rally round to offer them succour.
According to Ogundiya, the workers are going through hardship at the moment because of the delay in the payment of their salaries.
He pleaded with Christians to emulate the action of the Good Samaritan in the Bible.
Meanwhile, the state workers have been on strike in the past three weeks to press home their demand.
