Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Monday night announced the dissolution of the State Independent Electoral Commission and the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission.

A brief statement issued and signed by Wike’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said the governor acted on the recommendation of the state House of Assembly on grounds of official misconduct levelled against both agencies.‎

The House had summoned the chairmen and members of the commissions to give account of their activities within the last two years.

The state lawmaker, who were apparently dissatisfied over the explanation of the head of the two commissions on Monday, empowered Wike to sack the commissioners and dissolve the commissions.

Wike, in a short  statement, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah, explained that he  acted ‎in line with the directive of the House on grounds of official misconduct leveled against the commissions.‎
