Few days to the inauguration of the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians have been urged to repent from their sins for the desired change which they clamoured for to be materialised.

The Chief Imam of Akinyele Hausa Community, Ibadan, Oyo State, Sheikh Al-Imam Tajudeen while the annual public lecture of the Jama'atu Ta'awunil Muslimeen (Jabuah Solahudeen Ayubi) in Ibadan noted since Nigerians have demanded for a change of government before the general elections, they should prepare for it.

According to him, Nigerians should shun all vices such as bribery and corruption, laziness and other criminal activities as support for the desired change expected from the incoming administration.

Speaking on the topic "Agony of Nigerians, The Way Out" he urged Nigerians not to encourage the politicians to embezzled public funds.

"We should not besiege their offices or homes for financial assistance. We should allow them to work for the progress and development of the country.

The cleric called on parents to give qualitative education to their children, saying that the Muslims are not for menial jobs.

The lecturer lamented that despite the abundance of both human and natural resources, Nigerians were still in agony.

He said it was unfortunate the Nigerian leaders have failed to utilise the available resources for the benefit of the people by surrounding themselves with sycophants.

"They have failed to listen to God's order. They have only succeeded in surrounding themselves with sycophants. They are shameless. They misused God's blessing and agony set in.

"They abandoned good governance for bad, they have alternative for God – idol worshipping," he said.

Speaking, the group's coordinator for Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Osun States, Ustaz Muhammed Basheer Usamotu noted that Nigerians were wallowing in pathetic agony and continued suffering which seems ceaselessly until death.

While noting the society was corrupt, he said the solution was for Nigerians to be righteous, self-discipline, benevolent and fear God.

The highlight was the presentation of award of excellence to four prominent Muslims.

They were the Chief Imam of Oyo, Sheikh Moshood A. Ganiyy Ajokidero, former director, Vehicle Inspection Officer, Alhaji Dahood Afolabi, member of the Board of Internal Revenue, Oyo State, Alhaji (Dr) Yusuf Toyin and Alhaji Salawu Ismail Oladele.
