OWERRI—Immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has said that the misfortune of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general elections, was “a normal political hiccup.”

Chief Ohakim made his feelings known when he played host to the six PDP members-elect of the State House of Assembly and scores of other loyalists in his Okohia, Isiala Mbano local council area country home.

“The misfortune of the PDP in the last general election was a normal hiccup in politics engineering. The situation offers us the opportunity to go back tote drawing board and put things right”, Ohakim said.

The former Governor pleaded with all PDP members-elect in the National and State Assemblies to resist the temptation of defecting to any other party, stressing that Imo remains a PDP state.

Chief Ohakim also seized the opportunity to donate two buses to the two wards in Isiala Mbano local council area that successfully delivered PDP candidates during the last general polls.

While acknowledging that he is no longer occupying any public office, Chief Ohakim announced his desire to immediately  start with the empowerment of women and youths, through his non-government organization, African Clean and Green Initiative.
