Nigeria Police Confirmed The Freedom of Abducted Anglican Archbishop in Nigeria

Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command, have confirmed the release of abducted Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province, Anglican Communion, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen few weeks ago in Port Harcourt.  

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that Archbishop Ignatius Kattey was released without a ransom on Saturday evening near the southern city of Port Harcourt, and was in a stable condition.

The cleric and his wife Beatrice were seized close to their Port Harcourt residence on 6 September. His wife was released unharmed several hours later.

When CEOAFRICA news correspondence puts phone call through to the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Angela Agabe, she confirmed the release of the cleric.

"The archbishop was released behind a filling station at Eleme in Rivers state. His captors dropped him when the police were about to close in on them. No ransom was paid." She said.

According to her, investigations are ongoing in order to unravel the people behind the kidnapping of the Archbishop.
