Chairman, Senate Committee on Ecology and Environment, Senator Bukola Saraki, has urged Nigerians to be hopeful on the return of the abducted Chibok school girls.
Saraki, in a statement signed by his media aide, Bamikole Omisore and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday, said “we must remain hopeful of their return and steadfast in our determination to finding them.”
The former governor, who aligned himself with the comments of the president-elect, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari on the issue of the abducted school girls, said Buhari was right to throw the full weight of his incoming administration behind Nigerians’ efforts to find the missing girls.
He, however, quickly added that “but he (Buhari) is right too, not to make naive claims about the ability of any government to commit to finding the girls.
“Today, we pause to remember the kidnapping of the Chibok school girls. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends and communities.
“A year may have passed since they were taken, but our sympathy and solidarity with their families remain as strong as ever; and so does our revulsion at the acts of terror committed.”
