ABEOKUTA—The People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State has accused the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun of procuring some unclaimed Permanent Voters Cards ahead of the governorship election in the state.

The PDP in a statement issued by Director of Media and Publicity of Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka Campaign Organisation, Ifekayode Akinbode, stated this, claiming that it was a plot to rig the coming election in the state.

But, in a swift reaction, Amosun described the allegation as outlandish and malicious that was aimed at misleading the people of the state.

The deputy director-general of Senator Ibikunle Amosun Campaign Organisation, Chief Bisi Adegbuyi, who spoke on behalf of the governor, challenged the PDP to prove the allegation beyond the reasonable doubt.

PDP said: ”It has come to our notice that the Ogun State governor,  Sen. Ibikunle Amosun has purchased many of the uncollected PVCs for underhand use of the APC. While, Ogun INEC said about 400,000 cards remain uncollected, many of these cards are now in the possession of Amosun.”
