Kidnapped emir regains freedom in Zamfara

Emir of Bukkuyum in Zamfara State, Alhaji Muhammad Usman, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen last week Friday, regained his freedom on Wednesday.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Sanusi Amiru, while briefing newsmen in Gusau.

He said police team assigned to search and rescue the kidnapped emir from the office of the state Police Commissioner successfully found and rescued the emir at Gadar Zaima.

“The whole area was cordoned off by police, who were on search and rescue mission, the development which compelled the kidnappers to release the emir,” Amiru added.

Narrating his experience while in the custody of kidnappers to newsmen, the emir said he was comfortable, as not a finger was raised against him but he could not understand the reason behind his ordeal.

“I was neither asked for any piece of information nor directed to sign for any demand.

“I was there kept for good five days, eating delicious and healthy foods; I was not harassed or humiliated,” he said.
