An Appeal Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State capital, has reserved judgment in the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the August 9, 2014, governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omiisore, challenging the decision of the electoral tribunal that upheld the victory of Rauf Aregbesola as  the winner of the election.

While the counsels to Governor Aregbesola and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Akin Olujimi,  and Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, respectively, urged the court to dismiss the appeal, counsel to Omisore, Dr Alex Isinyon and Chief Chris Uche, called on the appellate court to set aside the ruling of the election tribunal.

During the hearing  on Monday, Isinyon sought from the court to allow the appeal, saying the lower tribunal erred by not making use of the evidences brought before it by the petitioner and the appellant in the matter.

He argued that the electoral tribunal failed to rule on the issue of substantial non compliance with the Electoral Act brought before it by the applicant, noting that corrupt practises were established in about 17 local government areas of the state during the election and we’re overlooked in the ruling.
