THE federal government has disclosed that Nigerians are clamouring for extension of its Sure-P, Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, beyond this year.
Dropping this hint in Osogbo yesterday, the director, Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr Peter Papka, however, added that further extension may be based on testimonies of interns that have exited the programme after two years attachment to companies.
Speaking during the three-day exit training organised for interns employed through the scheme in Osun state, Papka, who was represented by Mrs Olufunke Babalola, said the GIS has mandate to train 50, 000 graduates over two years, adding that half of the number have already completed their training, while 3,000 have exited the programme.
