ONE of the participants at the Pan-Yoruba Summit, held in Ibadan, Oyo State, with the theme: “Yoruba People. Our Aspirations And Minimum Demands from the Central Government of Nigeria,” Senator Anthony Adefuye, has said no other ethnic group has contributed to the development of Nigeria more than the Yoruba.
Adefuye posited that the Yoruba people had led the country to where it was today, as far as development was concerned.
“We have contributed more than any other ethnic group to the development of Nigeria.Surprisingly, however, since the inception of this present government, Yorubas are being completely marginalised. It was regrettable that in the order of protocol from number one to 27, there is no Yoruba man,” he said.
He pointed out that “we have taken several steps which included visiting President Goodluck Jonathan to find out why this is so. But up till now, he has not been able to repair the damage that has been done.
“As a matter of fact, the damage is getting worse by the day.”
Senator Adefuye concluded by calling on Yoruba people to think deeply before casting their vote in the March 28 presidential election, saying “we have no other option but to vote for Buhari/Osinbajo and I want to quickly remind them that anytime a northerner is president, it is the time we Yoruba enjoy the most.
“Right from the time of Tafawa Balewa, Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida and even the late Sanni Abacha.
“So, anytime we have a northerner as president, they always rely and respect our participation in their government ami we always enjoy their regime. But here is a man we voted for, what did he pay us back with? Hatred, anger and marginalisation. Those are what we got from him.
“I will strictly advise the Yoruba to vote for Buhari/Osinbajo.”
