Some traditional rulers and community heads in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have remarked that the landmark achievements of the Labour Party governorship candidate in the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, when he served as governor, would ensure his success in the forthcoming polls.
The chiefs, in their separate remarks, when Alao-Akala visited on his campaign tour of the local government, recounted the former governor’s strides in infrastructure, health, education and people-oriented programmes, assuring him of their communities’ support for his ambition.
Alao-Akala, speaking of his mandate to ensure that people’s welfare is key, however, decried abandoned projects across the state and prayed for continuity in government.
“My campaign to return to government is not about my welfare but that of the entire people of this state and future generations,” he said.
At Oolo, Alao-Akala bemoaned the abandoned electrification project since he left office but promised to make the transformer, he provided, functional, if elected.
Oloolo of Oolo, Oba Michael Oyegbami, in his remarks, maintained that Alao-Akala’s records in infrastructural development, people’s welfare could not be forgotten.
“We acknowledged your achievements, which we recalled, hence our support for your ambition. The people of Oke Oba support you. Your works serve as a fertile ground for your victory,” Oyegbami noted.
The Onikoyi of Ikoyi, Abdulyekeen Oladipupo, expressed confidence in Alao-Akala’s ability to deliver the goods.
“Your works in this axis are visible to everyone which served as a veritable platform for your clamour for a return to office. You have shown us love overtime and we will reciprocate this love in the coming election,” Oladipupo said.
Baale Igboran, Thomas Oladejo, said, “You started the Alaroko-Ikoyi road, bringing succour to our people after many years of hardship. Your sincere concern for the plight of the downtrodden stands you out as our preferred candidate.”
Similarly, Oba Obamo of Obamo, Adegoke Olukunle, noted that the former governor constructed the road to Obamo.
Alao-Akala further intimated them of his plan to extend the road construction to Sepeteri.
Onimaya of Maya, Oba Iyiola Alabi and Baale Alaropo-nla, Jacob Akanbi, said, “Your campaign just reinforces our firm stand to vote massively for you. Your renowned personality as lover of the masses endears us to your ambition.”
