One hundred and fifty groups in Akwa Ibom State have declared their support for the Labour Party governorship candidate, Senator Helen Esuene.

The groups gave the endorsement at an event organized by the management of Villa Marina Hotel on Tuesday in Eket which had 5,000 people in attendance including market women, Igbo and Yoruba communities, socio-political organizations, Akwa Ibom State Widows Association, students and professional groups.

The General Manager, Villa Marina Hotel, Mr. Joshua Okungbowa, said the large crowd at the venue was an indication of their acceptance of Esuene.

Okungbowa thanked Esuene for giving jobs to over a thousand people in the state. He added that the state would witness industrial growth, human development and economic boom if she becomes governor.

The market women leader, Iquo Okon, commended Esuene for taking a bold step in accepting to vie for the position of governor in the state.

“We have come here to let you know that market women in Akwa Ibom State will vote for you. We cannot abandon our own for somebody we hardly know. We know what you can do for women in the state because you have been doing it, God will surely be with you,” Okon said.

Speaking on behalf of one of the groups, Mass Mobilization Network, Mr. Idongesit Nyong, assured Esuene of victory at the poll. He stated that her antecedent of human empowerment was the major reason the people of the state preferred her to any other contestants.

“Your magnanimity has spoken for you, Akwa Ibom people now know better, we cannot allow one person to dictate to the entire state, we cannot allow a third term agenda of an individual to be fulfilled,” Nyong said.
