Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to drag its Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart before the United Nations (UN) over 150 “sins” allegedly committed by the party, ahead the forthcoming general election.

State chairman of the party, Dr Davies Ikanya, made this known, on Monday, while receiving reports from the committee, set up by the party leadership to investigate the increasing cases of electoral violence in the state.

The committee, inaugurated on January 19 and headed by Prince Peter Odika, said it was able to identify 150 sins committed against APC by the PDP leadership and its members, in the course of the campaigns for the forthcoming elections, in the state.

Ikanya congratulated the members of the committee for a job well done, assuring that the aim of setting it up would be actualised as the report would be sent to the United Nations, Amnesty International, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and other major international bodies, without delay.

“I commend the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Suleiman Abba, for directing that the Okrika attack should be investigated. We wish that those behind this devilish attack are promptly arrested.

Speaking earlier, Odika, who is also the Rivers APC deputy chairman said, topping the list was the violent disruption of APC’s campaign rally in Okrika last Wednesday, which culminated in the death of a policeman and injury of three others.

He alleged that the attack was principally aimed at eliminating the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Honourable Dakuku Peterside.

“These sins revolve around attacks against APC faithful, billboards and Local Government Secretariat by PDP supporters and members in Rivers State, ahead of the general election,” he said.

Odika pleaded that the report should be treated with urgency before the state would be plunged into a crisis that would not only send more APC members and other innocent persons to their early graves, but also truncate the country’s nascent democracy.
