The Kwara State Governor who also is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the April 11 governorship election, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic party, Senator Simeon Ajibola, were absent at the 2015 governorship debate for candidates of political parties in Kwara State, on Monday.

The debate which held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, was organised by the Kwara Coalition of Business and Professional Associations and the Nigeria Election Debate Group with support from the Centre for International Private Enterprise and International Republican Institute.

The organisers had invited Ahmed, Ajibola, the candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Mike Omotosho, and governorship candidates of other parties.

Only Omotosho participated in the debate which was broadcast live. No reason was given by the organisers for the absence of the other candidates.

But Ahmed’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, in an interview with our correspondent said the governor had a prior engagement before he was invited to the rescheduled debate.
