Ahead of the March 28 presidential election, former Deputy Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State, Mr. Clement Edo-Osagie, has urged the people of Edo South senatorial district to be wary of those he described as insignificant political stooges, who were out to use their positions to attract political patronages to themselves and their immediate families at the detriment of the vast majority.

Edo-Osagie spoke in Benin, weekend, in reaction to the recent statement by the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri that the Bini will not vote for President Goodluck Jonathan.

He enjoined well-meaning Bini not to allow few persons, whose aims were to deny the people of Edo South senatorial district their rightful place in the scheme of things.

He said: “It is no longer news that some of these persons have made themselves spokespersons of the Bini. The political scene in Edo South has become a ‘farm’ to these persons who go about parading themselves as high ranking Benin chiefs, extorting those in Dennis Osadebay Avenue.”

He advised Bini to resist the attempt being made by some individuals under the guise of assuming the role of political “godfathers” of the Bini.

Meanwhile, three civil societies in Edo State have lampooned Governor Adams Oshiomhole for abandoning issues in his campaign for All Progressives Congress (APC) in the re-scheduled general elections and instead was attacking personalities and internal issues of PDP in the state.

The societies, Rainbow Caucus, New Frontiers and Edo for Democratic Change in a statement urged Oshiomhole to mind his party’s business instead of occupying himself with PDP internal issues.

The spokesman of the groups, Okharedia Ihimekpen, called on Oshiomhole to explain to Edo electorate what has happened to all Edo industries including Edo Line, Edo Cement Factory, Bendel Brewery and Ewu Flour Mill.
