The Lagos State Coordinator of the Buhari/Osinbajo presidential campaign organisation, Mr. James Faleke, says those who are protesting against the use of card readers and Permanent Voter Cards for the elections have the intention of rigging.
He, therefore, maintained that the PVC and card readers must be used as this was the only way to ensure free and fair elections.
He added that those insisting that Temporary Voter Cards be used alongside the PVC have plans of manipulating the electoral process because the TVC can be easily cloned and used in rigging.
Faleke, who represents the Ikeja federal constituency at the House of Representatives, said this during a press conference in Lagos on Saturday.
He said, “Who is afraid of card readers? It is a device that will eliminate rigging, proxy and multiple voting. If properly used, the card reader will reduce voting time in the future.
“The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, has said the maximum time it takes to authenticate a PVC is less than 30 seconds. The card reader is only for accreditation, it will not be used for voting.
“Those insisting on the use of TVCs have something up their sleeves. The migration of the voter register from TVC to PVC has detected double registration of more than four million people. If the promoters of the TVCs are not afraid of their own shadows, why are they dragging the hands of the nation’s clock backward?”
