The Director of Publicity for General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation in Adamawa State, Alhaji Uba Dan Arewa, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of being biased, with the procedures they followed in arresting ousted Governor Murtala Nyako’s son. Arewa, in an interview with newsmen, on Thursday, gave EFCC seven days ultimatum to tender unreserved public apology to All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adamawa electorate for the arrest of Abudul Azizi Nyako, the son of ousted Governor Nyako. Arewa threatened to take legal action against EFCC if the agency fails to tender unreserved public apology for taking law into their hands, before Nyako’s son was declared wanted by the agency. Arewa described Azizi’s arrest as illegal, adding that EFCC is reading the script written by the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to humiliate major players in the opposition parties, ahead of the forthcoming general polls and that the arrest was pre-arranged, considering Azizi’s popularity and indications that he is a candidate to beat in the central senatorial polls. According to him, Azizi Nyako was not invited for any questioning by EFFC before he was declared wanted, which is against fair hearing principle. He explained that Azizi went to Gombe State to ask the anti-graft agency; the reason why he was declared wanted before they bungled him to Abuja and claimed that he was arrested. Source: TRIBUNE
