National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, has declared that the party will sweep the coming polls in the country except the elections were rigged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pointing out that the outcome of the exercise has more to do with the future of the country.

This is just as he insisted that the party would not allow a situation where card readers were not used, adding that, “we are going to insist on the use of card readers for the elections.”

Tinubu said this in Lagos, on Wednesday, at a stakeholders’ parley, which took place at the party secretariat on ACME Road, Ogba.

He stressed that the PDP moved for the postponement of the elections because it was afraid that it would be defeated by the APC.

The APC chieftain, who spoke at the gathering attended by Governor Babatunde Fashola, the governorship candidate of the party, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode; chairman of APC, Chief Henry Ajomale, among others, however, charged the party leaders and members to go back to their various wards and work for the success of the party in the forthcoming elections.

According to Tinubu, who disclosed that the party had resolved to restrategize for the polls, henceforth members must now hold ward meetings every week and attendance register taken for everyone present.

Tinubu said not only should the meetings be held regularly, members should endeavour to know those among them that had collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and those who were yet to collect theirs.

The APC national leader said while doing that, it was the resolve of the party to supply members with details of those that had since collected their cards, as well as their telephone numbers, even as he charged them to encourage members and people around them to collect their PVCs.

Tinubu maintained that the task was a collective one that would not leave anybody out, including the Executive Secretaries (ES) at the 57 local governments and local council development areas of the state, who he said should assist in whatever way possible.

The former governor, who lamented greatly the poor collection of PVCs in the state, hitherto regarded as No 1 in every endeavour, said, “The success of the exercise would determine tomorrow.”

“The ex-chairmen, councillors, all of you would join hands. The PVCs must be out. We did population census exercise, we did voter registration exercise, we came top in Lagos, why are we having problem with collection of PVCs?

Speaking earlier, Governor Fashola tasked the party members not to waiver in their resolve to chase the PDP out of power at the centre, even as he charged them to go and ensure collection of their PVCs.

According to him, collection of PVCs at 62 per cent is still not good enough considering the strategic position that Lagos State occupies in the country.
