The factional leader of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dele Olugbemi, has condemned former President Olusegun Obasanjo for tearing his membership card of the party.

Olugbemi, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, said the action of the former President portrays him as a man who plays to the gallery.

He said, “It is painful that somebody who became the PDP candidate while coming out of prison and ruled for eight years and also served as the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman for four years now feels that tearing his membership card is the reward the party deserves from him for the privilege given to him.

“The action was least expected of a so-called statesman. As a Yoruba elder, one expected him to honourably withdraw from the party instead of a shameful display.”

He commended the victory of Governor Ayodele Fayose at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which upheld the judgment of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

He promised that the Assembly would cooperate with the governor to developing the state.
