An Igbo group in Lagos, Eze Ndigbo, has urged all Igbo across the state to vote for the All Progressives Congress at all levels in the coming elections.

Specifically, the group asked its kinsmen to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); and the Lagos governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

The group said this after a meeting attended by all its leaders from across the 20 local government areas in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Eze Ndigbo Ikeja, Uche Dimgba, said the Igbo should be grateful to the APC-led state government which has provided an enabling environment for their business to thrive.

He said Igbos must align with the winning party so that they will not be left out in the scheme of things.

He said, “We need to join the winning party and not the one of darkness. Igbos must support the party that has allowed them to thrive. We have no business with the Peoples Democratic Party. If we follow them, we might put ourselves in trouble.

“We need to come out in our millions to support the APC on March 11 and we must vote for them. We have to be very wise. If we made a mistake in the past, we need to start from somewhere and build a new formidable force.”

In his reaction, the lawmaker representing the Ikeja federal constituency, Mr. James Faleke, promised that the APC would never marginalise non-indigenes in the state.

Faleke revealed that he was an indigene of Kogi State but was voted into office as a representative of Lagos at the House of Representatives because Lagos is a land for all.

He said, “I am not from Lagos. By birth I am from Kogi State and so, I want to tell you that Lagos is open to everybody. Lagos State is a place where if you put in your best, the people will recognise you. Lagos is not about tribe or religion. If you are good, you are good.

“Lagos gives you the opportunity to excel both in business and any other endeavour. By chance, I was posted to Lagos for my National Youth Service Corps in 1984 and I have remained here since then and started a family.”

Faleke urged the Igbo across the state not to be swayed by the campaigns of the PDP which he said were based on ethnic and tribal sentiments.
