Sen. Teslim Kolawola Folarin
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sen. Teslim Kolawole Folarin has called on Christians to use the season of lent to reflect and meditate on the life of Christ which he said is worthy of emulation.
He made this appeal in a message to the Christians across the state, as they join other Christians in the world to observe the 40 days of fasting and prayers known as lent. He commended them as people of good virtue who coexist peacefully with other people of different faith and belief.
“I call on all Christians in Oyo state to use this period of fasting, moderation and self-denial to reflect on the life and virtues of Christ which include love, justice, peace, tolerance, dedication to duty amongst other godly virtues. The Christian community in Oyo state have lived peacefully with other religions in the state; this is worthy emulation and i urge you to keep it up.”
He added that when these virtues are imbibed, it would help to propel the desired love, peace and security which are criterion for the growth and development of the state.
He called on Christians to use this period to draw closer to God and also seek the face of God for the State and Nigeria as the country prepares for its forthcoming elections. He told them that with God all things can be made possible.
Folarin appealed to residents of Oyo state to be peaceful and conduct themselves in the right and proper manner in all they do.
“We must realise the need to live together in peace and work for the common progress of our dear state. We must desist from acts capable of plunging the state in chaos and anarchy.”
He equally enjoined the Christian to use the postponement of the elections to collect their Permanent Voters Card, PVC and vote for the candidate of their choice
