Following the emergence of both as the presidential and Oyo governorship candidates, respectively, on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA) in the forthcoming elections, a disciplinary committee has been set up by the party to try them.
Contrary to the party’s constitution, the two candidates were at the time of their acclaimed emergence holding both the positions of National Chairman and National Leader of the party, respectively.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, by the National Think Tank committee of the party, a copy of which was obtained by the Nigerian Tribune.
It will be recalled that the party National Secretary, Kenneth Udeze, had last week disclosed that the party had no presidential candidate, dismissing the claim by Kelani as a ruse, as he insisted that there was no time a primaries was held to pick him.
The duo was granted three months leave of absence during which the disciplinary committee would sit and try them.
It was stated in the letter that the appointment of both Isaah Aaladu and Ayozie Johnson as the Acting National Chairman and National Leader, respectively, were approved pursuant to Article 33 (d) (e) (f) of the party’s constitution.
While asking that all correspondence meant for the party should henceforth be directed at the duo of Aaladu and Ayozie, the party disclosed that it would hold special National Convention mid next month.
Reacting to the story, Anifowose-Kelani said no letter was sent to the INEC office and that his name was not substituted.
He said the rumour was the handiwork of those that wanted to distract the party.
At the convention, the report of the disciplinary committee would be ratified while vacant positions in the party would be filled according to the letter signed by both Aaladu and Ayozie.
