The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has distanced itself from the purported endorsement of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Emmanuel Udom, as the sole candidate of the Ndigbo for the March 28 governorship poll.

The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Okechukwu Iziguzoro, in a statement obtained by our correspondent, in Umuahia, said that no member of the group made such an endorsement.

Calling on the police to prosecute any non-member using the group’s name to endorse any governorship candidate, the group warned that nobody should use its name for personal gratification.

It expressed shock that somebody would have the audacity to collect money on its behalf without authorisation.

According to the statement, “The Ndigbo in Akwa Ibom has not decided on the particular candidate to support at the forthcoming election.”

The OYC warned that the body would not take it lightly with anyone using its revered name to engage in questionable activities.
