Arise TV on Friday abruptly ended an interview with Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following a heated exchange between him and one of the programme’s anchors, Rufai Oseni.

The incident occurred during The Morning Show after Rufai asked Olayinka to comment on Wike’s position regarding the controversy surrounding the composition of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council.

Olayinka, however, declined to respond to Rufai, saying he was unwilling to engage with the anchor.

“I don’t want to answer any questions from you. I want this conversation to be between reasonable human beings,” Olayinka said.

He further referenced previous remarks allegedly made by Rufai, saying he did not want to engage with people who describe others as “Gbewudani.”

His response drew the intervention of another anchor, Ayo Mairo, who objected to Olayinka’s remarks and reminded him that the programme has three anchors.

“We take exception to that, Mr Olayinka. Before you came to this show, I’m sure that you are aware that we have three anchors on the show,” Mairo said.

She stressed that Olayinka had appeared on The Morning Show knowing that all three anchors would participate in the interview, adding that they were there based on their credibility.

Mairo subsequently brought the interview to an end after Olayinka maintained his refusal to answer Rufai’s questions.

“No more questions, since you don’t want to answer. We thank you very much for your time this morning and hope to see you again when you are ready to speak to the three of us,” she said.

The exchange has since attracted attention online, with viewers reacting to the confrontation between the Wike aide and the Arise TV anchors.
