Nollywood actress Judy Austin has dragged her former husband, Emmanuel Obasi, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, over alleged defamatory statements made against her.

In a Writ of Summons filed before the court, Austin is seeking N1 billion in general damages from Obasi for alleged defamation.

The actress disclosed the legal action on social media on Monday, August 11, 2026, sharing copies of the court documents with the caption, “Enough is Enough.”

According to the court papers, Austin is asking the court to order Obasi to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and on his social media platforms.

She is also seeking an order restraining Obasi, his agents, servants or privies from further publishing or circulating what she described as defamatory statements or materials concerning her.

Austin further asked the court to compel her former husband to remove all allegedly defamatory posts previously published against her across his social media platforms.

In addition to the N1 billion general damages, the actress is seeking N500 million in aggravated damages over alleged defamatory publications made against her in the past.

She is also demanding N500 million in exemplary damages, as well as N100 million as the cost of prosecuting the suit.

The court documents further list a separate claim of N100 million as the cost of the action.

Austin and Obasi were previously married before their relationship ended. She later married Nollywood actor Yul Edochie.

The latest legal action marks an escalation of the long-running controversy surrounding Austin, Obasi and Edochie, with the actress now seeking judicial intervention over the alleged publications.
