The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to facilitate the processing and issuance of pending, new and renewal passport applications for Nigerians living in the country.

The deployment is part of efforts to streamline passport services and address challenges faced by Nigerians in the diaspora.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, K. N. Nandap, to deploy the intervention team from the NIS headquarters to the UK.

The team is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom on Monday, August 10, 2026, and will work in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission to process and issue passports to eligible applicants.

During the exercise, the team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing Nigerians in different parts of the country to access the service.

According to the NIS, the exercise is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, first-time applicants and existing passport holders with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew their passports.

Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.

The NIS said the full schedule for the intervention, including the designated cities, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements, would be announced separately.

The agency advised applicants not to proceed to any location until the official schedule is communicated.

“Applicants are therefore advised not to proceed to any location until the relevant schedule has been officially communicated and to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom for further details,” the NIS stated.

The service also confirmed that all NIS digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, will remain operational throughout the intervention exercise.

The home delivery service will also remain available to applicants.
